Ashlyn Feldmann, MT-BC

Ashlyn earned her Bachelor of Music in Performance from the University of North Alabama in 2016. She then pursued her passion for music therapy by completing the Music Therapy Equivalency Program at the University of Alabama in the spring of 2018. Following her studies, Ashlyn completed her internship at Music Therapy Milestones, where she worked as a dedicated music therapist from 2019-2024

Ashlyn founded Beacon Music Therapy in January 2025 with the intention of providing music therapy services to people of all ages in Birmingham and surrounding communities. Ashlyn had a passion for helping people with the power of music and providing safe spaces for people to “illuminate possibilities”. 


What is music therapy?

Music Therapy is the clinical & evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program. Music therapy interventions can address a variety of healthcare & educational goals and many can benefit from music therapy services. The base of evidence in music therapy research is extensive and strong. (AMTA)

Through structured and individualized musical experiences, it targets the following goal areas:

Social

Enhancing interpersonal skills, peer interaction, group participation, and social engagement.

Cognitive

Supporting attention, memory, executive functioning, problem-solving, and learning.

Emotional

Facilitating emotional expression, self-regulation, mood stabilization, and coping strategies.

Physical

Improving motor coordination, strength, endurance, and sensory-motor integration.

Communication

Promoting verbal and non-verbal communication, language development, and expressive/receptive language skills.

Music therapy interventions are tailored to each individual’s needs and are designed to produce measurable therapeutic outcomes in a safe, supportive environment.
